With the advent of HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc™, High
Definition (HD) Audio has become a reality. HD Audio offers more
detail, more effects, and more realism in up to 7.1 independent
channels of sound. These new HD Audio standards include Dolby
Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD and DTS Master Audio.
There are two common ways to decode the digital HD
Audio signal. The first uses a decoder built the AV receiver. The
second option is to output the HD Audio signal from the source
player (HD-DVD or Blu-ray Disc™) in 7.1 Multi-channel PCM format.
With either option, there is absolutely no loss of information or
resolution – no degradation in sound quality.
All Marantz AV receivers equipped with HDMI
(SR4002 and above) support the High Definition Audio 7.1
